Heng earned his MA in Economics at Duke University with a focus on labor economics, health economics, applied econometrics and theoretical econometrics. Professionally, Heng is a certified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK. For his master’s degree thesis, Heng studied inequalities in social welfare and the labor market in the US. His current research agenda primarily focuses on the Danish welfare state system’s redistributive effect on income and inequality, race differences in parental college support & attendance in the US, and the effect of Chinese environmental policies on child mortality and maternal health. Heng’s specialties are causal inference of policy effect analysis, macro-level labor economics modeling and applied microeconomics modeling.

In his free time, Heng loves developing new cuisines combining French or Eastern European cuisines with traditional Chinese cuisine. Heng is also an avid supporter of the Premier League football team Tottenham Hotspur.
